Hungry for More

Part of the game-day experience is the food that is ordered. In today’s world, peanuts and Cracker Jacks aren’t going to be enough for the consumer who wants to make the most out of game-day. This is why sports stadiums and arenas across the major sports leagues are stepping up in their food service game.

It’s hard to imagine combining world-renowned chefs with quick service food, but that’s the trend today (Smith, 2018). “Fast food,” has gotten a lot of bad press, but I think talented chefs can change that notion.

From my own experience, kitchens often try to find ways to push out great food at a faster rate. Faster service times equals more profits due to shortening wait times for tables and/or food. In a sports environment, tables aren’t necessary since fans are more likely to bring their food to their seats. Therefore, it’s up to chefs to create delicious food that is portable.

Let’s face it, it’s probably going to come in form of sandwich, but I think talented chefs can turn it into something great. Take this delicious creation as an example:

It’s a lobster roll sold at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. What’s so special is that it is a reflection of the great seafood scene in Boston. I think marketers of major sports teams should strongly consider bringing in a top chef to create state-of-the-art dishes for fans. No matter where your seat is, a gourmet meal will definitely add to the experience.

I hope this got your mouth watering. In the comments, post about your favourite food or beverage while watching a game.

Until next time,
Martin
